Nimbokrang, Cyclops Mountains: West Papua

We left the Grand Belium Valley & returned to Wamena, where a little surprise awaited me! I was sharing the same hotel as the Yorkshire lads who we out here a similar tour to mine. We had a nice chat catching up on things, but no beer because the bar was totally fake!

 Ornate Melidectes.
 A really great looking bird.

Baliem Whistler

 Superb Bird of Paradise.

In the afternoon we went to a local area near  resort for Ornate Melidectes & Superb Bird of Paradise. We had good views of both species.

Rufous bellied Kookaburra.

The next day we flew to Sentani & then drove to the lowland forests of Nimbokrang. This is a Javan trans-migration site where the lowland forest is being steadily depleted but there are some cracking birds to be found.
