A dash to Dubai!

Arrived back in the UAE on the evening of 6th November, after my two days in Doha. I had heard that there had been both Pheasant-tailed Jacana & White crowned Black Wheatear seen the previous weekend but not since. So took a chance & went for the Jacana which had been seen on a lake in the desert south of Dubai.

Grey Heron
Greater White-fronted Goose
One of many escapes.
Common Shelduck - very tame
 & almost certainly captive bred.

The location took a bit of finding, but eventually Robin & I spied the lake, but it was the wrong one! It held many captive species & plenty of people feeding them!

 Falcated Duck!

Despite being free winged have to be captive birds!

Little Egret

We eventually found a more distant lake which had two possibly three Falcated Ducks on it!!! They were with a flock of Wigeon & Ferruginous Ducks, but surely have to be captive birds even though they were free flying!

Arabian Gazelle
Black-winged Stilts & a Marsh Sandpiper.

Ruff

Greenshank
 Common Snipe
It is not often you see one right in the open.

Common Ringed Plover
Little Stint

Crested Lark

White Wagtail

We eventually found the correct lake for the Jacana but despite intensive searching we couldn't find it! It was a nice area though, with plenty of diversity & we spent a pleasant couple of hours there.
