Hauraki Gulf Pelagic

Sandspit

On 26th October we headed out from Sandspit towards Little Barrier Island in the Hauraki Gulf. This is a beautiful area renowned for its productive seabirds.

Best birds were: 3 White capped Albatross; 2 Northern Giant Petrel; Grey faced Petrel; Cook's Petrel; 2 Fairy Prion; 2 Black Petrel; 3,000+ Buller's Shearwater; 100+ Flesh-footed Shearwater; 3 Sooty Shearwater; 40 Fluttering Shearwater; 130 White-faced Storm Petrel; 10 New Zealand Storm Petrel & Common Diving Petrel;
