The south

On 28th July we drove south to Twee Rivieren & just out of the park to the Lifestyle Lodge. This lodge has good facilities for camping + a nice restaurant & we think it makes a great alternative to staying at Twee Rivieren, whose camping ground is not the best & can get somewhat crowded. We stayed here for the next four nights & used this camp as a base for exploring the southern portion of the park. 

This Lioness with cubs was part of a much larger

pride.

She was very relaxed.

This southern area is great for seeing the big cats coming out of the dunes & hunting in the dry river beds. There are also one or two nice waterholes which are good for photography. We were lucky in obtaining good Lion & Cheetah sightings, with only Leopard eluding us. 

A sub adult male came down to the river bed.

This was a large successful pride, with cubs at 

various stages of development.

We all enjoyed this prolonged sighting of the females with young. Further away up on the dunes, the adults were hunting a herd of Gemsbok, but without success.

We found this Cheetah resting in the shade.

But soon it was on the move.

It was showing interest in a small herd of Kudu.

He lost interest in the hunt.

He slowly wandered off into the bush.

I had many opportunities to take more photos, but wasn't strong enough to hold the camera steady! This is why this post is abbreviated, as I was going downhill rapidly. I had to pull the plug on the rest of the trip to Bushmanland & get to a hospital.
