Nye Nye Conservancy: Namibia

Christmas in July, Namibian style!

Delana & I left Swakopmund for the long drive to Tsumeb where we stayed with Connie & Artu, which was very pleasant. I even got chance to watch the golden overs in the Cricket World Cup Final on catch up TV!

The only shop in Tsumkwe!

At the Lodge!

It doesn't look much, but it was nice inside.

The campsite.

The waterhole next to the lodge.

Crimson breasted Boubou.

Singing!

Long billed Crombec

We did a little birding around the lodge.

There are several small San villages
in the conservancy.

Some nice savanna areas amid the bush.

Driving around was a little tricky.

Female Burchell's Sandgrouse

Immature male.

On the 26th July we drove to the Tsumkwe Lodge at Nye Nye Conservancy. It turned out to be a very pleasant place, our rooms were excellent & we had a great time there.

Tawny flanked Prinia

A big one this!

The waterhole in evening light.

The next day we were up exploring the southern section of the conservancy, which was bush land & open savanna. Driving was tough in places, but we all had a good time.

Burchell's Sandgrouse

Several hundred came into drink in the morning.

Burchell's Sandgrouse

On 28th July we had a look at the waterhole with lots of Burchell's Sandgrouse coming to drink & then it was time for the drive to our next destination: Khaudom National Park.
