Kruger in Winter

I arrived back in early August, it was the depths of winter & the park looked very drab. Went around for a couple of game drives but saw nothing special until 10th August & this proved to be an outstanding day.

A typical scene in Kruger.

Nyamfunda Dam

Cape Buffalo & Hippo.

Saddle-billed Stork

Striated Heron

Crested Guineafowl

Crowned Plover

This Leopard was chased off by Hyena.

The villain!

This male Lion was marking his territory
& roaring as he went.

Unfortunately, in Kruger one is never alone for long!

Scent marking.

Roaring!

This female had five cubs with her,
but they kept mainly hidden.

White Rhino at Renosterkoppie waterhole.

Wild Dog

There were ten of them on the Biyimati Loop Road

Interestingly none of them had a satellite collar on.

Sniffing everything!
